MacBook Screen Covered In Lines

This MacBook screen is covered in lines because of a hit it took to the bottom center of the screen. Whenever I see a crack on the screen in this area my first thought is that it was likely closed on something like earbuds or a pen. I see hundreds of MacBook screens every year that have been cracked because they are accidentally closed on something left on the keyboard.

MacBook Lines on Screen

When the screen is covered in lines it can be difficult to see if the computer is still working or not. Many people ask me if I think there is another issue with their computer other than the screen because they are not able to see anything at all through all the lines and damage. I always answer that there is a 99.9% chance that it is just the screen that is the issue. I start with a quick diagnostic when I receive the computers for repair just to verify that the screen is the only hardware problem present.

MacBook Screen Covered In Lines

The only times I see additional damage on a computer is when the screen has issues due to liquid damage. When liquid is involved, many times there are issues inside the computer rather than just with the screen. Liquid damage in a MacBook can cause lines, but it is unusual. Almost always liquid damage either causes the screen to go out completely because of damage done to the logic board, or the display works but has visible liquid present under the LCD panel.

If you are not sure what is wrong with your computer and you would like to know, just submit a quote request below! I am happy to take a look at a picture of your screen and let you know what the problem is with it.

The MacBook with the screen covered in lines just needed a new LCD panel. The display housing was all good, so just replacing the LCD panel did the trick. As you can see in the picture below it looks as good as new!
